Incense Man.
I have some good news for all HEM incense lovers. Our usual supplier based in Europe is now accepting orders from the UK. An order has been placed and I’m assuming delivery will take around 7 days approx. The HEM incense price may increase if we cannot absorb the Customs charges.
We are low or out of stock on some of our Pure Incense range. An order has been placed, however, there is a slight delay but hoping the majority of the items currently out of stock can be replenished in the coming week.
In the past I have mentioned I would like to hold a stall at independent markets. I was not expecting the process to be so long-winded! A few applications have been sent off and I’m hoping at least one of them gets accepted. I will keep you all posted, and if it’s local to you it would be lovely to meet our customers.
Royal Mail postage fee for the USA has nearly doubled in price. The postage fee on the website will be amended to reflect this.

Why is Nag Champa incense so popular
Nag Champa has a very distinctive fragrance and I’m sure most of you have experienced the scent in yoga studios, mediation workshops, spiritual shops and places of worship.
Nag Champa holds a strong woody with a hint of floral aroma that is perfect for spiritual awareness, positivity, relaxation and calming powers. This holds a firm favourite for those who practice yoga and mediation.
Nag champa is a blend from India that comes from the champa flower for its signature rich scent. . It is then mixed with sandalwood oils and herbs to enhance its scent and aroma. Tree resin and gums are then added to provide an enjoyably slow and lingering burn.
Nag Champa has been traditionally used around the world for centuries in ancient rituals and ceremonies, to cleanse an area of negative energies and evoke auras of worship and focus. However, it gained huge popularity in the western civilisation during the 60's when its aroma became a firm part of the concert experience. Its earthy and peaceful aroma was the signature fragrance for several Bob Dylan (an American songwriter) festival performances.

Saturday 10th July - This public holiday marks independence from the United Kingdom in 1973 and is the National Day of The Bahamas. Though there is some dispute as to the actual location, The Bahamas is the site of Columbus' first landfall in the New World in 1492.
The Bahamas became a British Crown colony in 1718 as a result of the British trying to suppress piracy in the region. Following the American war of independence, many British loyalists moved to The Bahamas, bolstering its British connections.
Moves toward independence didn't start until after the end of the second world war, with local political parties only forming in the 1950s. A new constitution giving more local autonomy came into effect in 1964. In 1967, The Bahamas achieved majority rule for the first time.
The British House of Lords voted to give The Bahamas its independence on 22 June 1973.
On July 10th 1973, The Bahamas was officially declared an independent nation when the documents relating to independence were delivered to Prime Minister Lynden Pindling by Prince Charles.
The Bahamas joined the Commonwealth of Nations on July 10th 1973.
Sunday 11th July – Naddam, Mongolia. The Naadam Festival is celebrated in Mongolia with public holidays from July 11th - 15th each year. This is the largest and most popular holiday in Mongolia.
The first day of the festival takes place on Revolution Day, Mongolia's National Day, which commemorates independence from China on July 11th 1921.
In 2014 an amendment to the Law on Public Holidays and Ceremonies in 2014, increased the number of public holidays for Naadam from three to five.
Tuesday 20th July - Colombian Independence Day. Marks the start of the movement to independence from Spain in 1810. The Spanish first arrived in Colombia in 1499, founding the first permanent settlement in 1510. Under the reign of King Charles III (reigned 1759-1788), resentment in the colonies was growing as the Spanish insisted that the colonies could only trade with Spain, limiting their growth and also as the Spanish support for the Americans in the US war of independence increased taxation. This had led to small, ineffective rebellions.
Following the Napoleonic Wars and the turmoil in Europe, Criollos (natives born from Spanish descent) who wanted independence seized their chance.
Independence Day is celebrated with parades and marches throughout Colombia. Watching sports and listening to traditional folk music are popular activities.
Thursday 21st July - Belgian Independence Day. Independence Day celebrates the separation of Belgium from the Netherlands in 1831, as well as the formal establishment of the Kingdom.
Belgium had been part of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands since 1815, but the majority of the population were Roman Catholic and increasingly felt the rule of King William I favoured the Northern Protestants. The discontentment was heightened by high levels of unemployment in the South.
In August 1830, riots led to a wider uprising and calls for Belgium to succeed from the Netherlands. A London Conference of major European powers then recognized Belgian independence.
After Belgium asserted its independence from the Netherlands on October 4th 1830, the Belgian National Congress considered several candidates to become king. After deliberation, they asked Leopold I of Saxe-Coburg to become king of the newly formed country. Leopold accepted and was proclaimed "King of the Belgians" on June 26th 1831.
Leopold I then sailed from Dover to Calais, in France, after which he was taken to the Belgian border village of De Panne on July 17th 1831. He swore allegiance to the constitution in the Royal Palace in Brussels on July 21st 1831.
This day became the Belgian national holiday.
During the national day, the Parliament chambers, the central bank and other institutions all open to the public, while parks and venues across town hold concerts and other activities. A large military parade takes place in Brussels attracting over 100,000 spectators.
If Independence Day falls on a weekend, no official public holiday is observed in lieu, but many employees, particularly in the public sector, will be given an extra day of vacation instead to use at a later date. Many employees are encouraged to use these extra days between Christmas and New Year.
